@danielbrandon Hi. Lynda.com is indeed a good way to learn how to make excellent graphic design. I personally learned a lot of photoshop skills and tricks through Lynda. Photoshop is a really good start and millions of its users believe it is the best graphic editing software there is. As for Vector images, you can easily import a vector image into photoshop or even select and copy the vector in illustrator and paste it in photoshop as a new layer or object.

The best way to learn is by doing. IMO. Get a trial copy of photoshop, and adobe illustrator. You use Photoshop for designing and can use illustrator for creating vectors. read through tutorials online and recreate what they are teaching in the tutorial. Its one of the best and fastest ways to learn.

I think you should go for Photoshop and their versions of Photoshop, then after you can go for Corel, Dreamweaver and many more that are very useful in Graphics Design.

Photoshop let you give frequent in making graphic design with ease and from where you get a expertise ,easy in use having lots of functionality... There are other web resources from where you can learn by clarity comes with practices and experiences..Start with Photoshop works great .
